We have been broadcasted from a 3-inch phone screen to JumboTron - IMAX resolution – on screens reaching 120-feet.
Tom Hillman is a self-taught multifaceted artist. Using his innovative and cutting edge design
principles he has given unique style to well over 600 productions in the last twenty-six years
that he has directed, produced, or animated going to air on television and film and seen in
over 129 countries around the world.
Tom opened his first company in 1993 and has since won an array of awards from Gold and
Silver International BDA’s (Broadcast Design Awards), Graphic Design Exchange, and the Best
Canadian Station ID spot, Best Video FX among others. He has directed visual effects for: a
Disney television special “Tough to be a Bug” (USA), two international short films for Bravo,
directed animation for two years of the Canadian Juno Awards, miniseries, various feature
films and documentaries and many other works.
YTV’s ‘Final Cut’, a series showing the most interesting production companies in Toronto,
interviewed Tom Hillman for two segments of the show. They were fascinated by the fact
that Tom took what might be considered as “garbage” and transformed it into art. From
miniature cities to prosthetic organs using gumballs and latex, Tom has used the unusual to
create elements for film and television over the last twenty years.
Tom has animated $750,000 spots in the USA where only the day before he was selecting all
the art materials from the local trash. From traditional stop-motion to high-end experimental
stereoscopic motion tracking Tom is not limited to the cards before him.

Sasha Hillman is a self-taught visual effects artist with a background in art history at the University of Toronto. She is the studio manager at GhostFX. Her interests include digital curation and the
online accessibility of art.
